About the Album
The summer before Allen passed away, he began planning a vocal album that would feature songs he had written. In preparation for this, he asked Derek and Brianna Meler and I (Tess Milby) to sing background vocals on his project. However, before he could get into the studio, he became ill for the last time. When the three of us went to see him for the final time, we promised Allen that we would complete his album, whether he was still able to contribute or not. He died about a week later.
We chose some of Allen's best songs and quickly began planning to go into the studio. Although it has been a long process, many generous donors allowed the project to take off. Recorded at AFAB Studios in Nashville, the album features some of the city's best musicians, such as Dave Cleveland, Tracey Phillips, Craig Nelson, Greg Richie, Larry Hall, and Jason Webb. Additionally, guest singers include Gene McDonald (Florida Boys/Gaither Homecoming) and Ernie Haase (Cathedrals/Signature Sound). Per Allen's wishes, all proceeds (after paying for the expenses related to the album) will be split between St. Jude Children's Hospital and singing schools in which Allen was involved. It is our prayer that through this project, Allen's legacy will be continued, hearts will be encouraged and lifted, and that, above all, God's name will be glorified. |
